Anti-Graffiti
ALL COVAL COATINGS ARE Anti-Graffiti, DESIGNED TO PROTECT ALL TYPES OF SURFACES FROM MARKERS, PAINT AND OTHER CHEMICALS WITH A CLEAR FINISH.
Coval pioneered the science of non-sacrificial anti-graffiti coatings. Not all surfaces are the same, and we’ve formulated to offer peak compatibility with a multitude of substrates. Once cured, all Coval coatings maintain a surface that is resistant to graffiti and can be cleaned with a mild solvent such as isopropyl alcohol. Please see our full product list and select the Coval coating designed for your specific substrate for the best protection against graffiti, corrosion, chemicals, and staining.
Coval Anti-Graffiti continues to offer high performance, non-sacrificial graffiti resistance to the transportation signage industry. Stickers, markers, paint and animal waste can easily be removed with a mild cleaning agent leaving no mar, cloudiness, residue, or loss of coating. Coval Anti-Graffiti is completely clear with no reflectivity loss and will not change the appearance of signage, artwork, rail cars, buildings, subway, airport, or road infrastructure.
Frequently Asked Questions
Coval uses covalent bonding technology to create a molecular-level barrier on the protected surface. Paint, markers, stickers, and adhesives cannot penetrate this barrier — they bond only to the Coval coating layer. When graffiti is applied, it can be cleaned off without damaging the substrate below.
Coval Anti-Graffiti bonds to virtually any substrate including concrete, masonry, brick, metal, stone, and painted surfaces. Its covalent bonding chemistry doesn’t depend on surface roughness, so it’s effective on both porous and smooth materials.
Once the coating is in place, graffiti can be removed using an appropriate cleaner without damaging the substrate. The protective coating remains intact after cleaning. Contact your Coval representative for recommended graffiti removal products for your specific substrate.
Coval’s molecular bond is extremely durable. Because the coating is also repairable — clean the affected area, let it dry, and recoat — it can be maintained indefinitely without stripping. This makes it significantly more cost-effective than sacrifice-layer systems over time.
No. Coval Anti-Graffiti is a clear coating that does not alter the color, texture, or sheen of the protected surface. The surface looks identical to an uncoated surface — but is fully protected.
Coval coatings contain less than 100g/L VOCs and no known carcinogens under California’s Proposition 65, making them safe for both indoor and outdoor use and compliant with strict environmental regulations.
Sacrifice-layer systems are consumed during graffiti removal and must be reapplied after every cleaning event. Coval is a permanent system — the coating remains intact after graffiti is removed. This significantly reduces long-term maintenance costs.
Yes. Because Coval is clear, ultra-thin, and bonds at the molecular level without altering the substrate, it is appropriate for use on historic buildings and monuments. Consult your Coval technical representative for heritage application guidance.
Coval Anti-Graffiti is single-component (no mixing required) and spray-applied using standard HVLP or airless spray equipment. Professional application training is available through Coval.
